Candidate Nomination

Oshawa's Conservatives Prepare to Elect a New Candidate

At our Association's 20th Annual General Meeting on April 24, 2024, Colin Carrie, our Member of Parliament and Oshawa's winning Conservative candidate in the past 7 Canadian general elections, informed our membership and volunteers that he will not seek re-election in the next federal contest, expected in 2025.

Mr. Carrie further confirmed that he will continue in his duties as Oshawa's Member of Parliament and serve out his full term until the 44th Parliament is dissolved and the writs of election are issued for the next general election.

As such, a by-election will not take place in the Oshawa Electoral District, namely that portion of the City of Oshawa which lies south of Taunton Rd (including the south side of Taunton Rd).

As required by the Conservative Party of Canada's Rules and Procedures for Candidate Nominations, the Oshawa Conservative Association has established a Local Candidate Nomination Committee (LCNC).

The Conservative Party of Canada will be accepting nomination packages for individuals wishing to seek our membership's nomination. Interested individuals should visit https://www.conservative.ca/about-us/governing-documents/ to become familiar with our Party's current Rules and Procedures for Candidate Nominations.

At this time, no dates have been established for the in-person nomination vote or the closure of nominations. Those decisions are the responsibility of the Party's Executive Director in consultation with the Association's LCNC.

Prospective candidates may also submit questions or inquiries to the Association and/or LCNC using the form below.

The Association will share updated information on the nomination process with its membership via this website and our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram or X) as further details become available.
